| Description | • This position functions as a hands-on Lead DBA responsible for coordinating the implementation, configuration, and administration of large-scale MS SQL databases in an E-Commerce environment. Must be proactive in ensuring stable and continuous services, and be comfortable working in a fast-paced 24/7 environment. Coordinates the implementation of databases, support of applications, database server platforms, tools and utilities into the database environment. Plans and coordinates the integration of systems into the production environment following the production migration process. Develops and maintains processes and procedures for performing database management and administration functions for the production and non-production environments. Facilitates integration efforts for the environments and coordinates quality assurance activities in support of a structured approach to systems integration and database management. Responsible for documentation of maintenance schedules, tuning activities and ad hoc requests to the database. Coordinates with IT Infrastructure and other departments as required. • The ideal candidate should be comfortable working on all levels. The candidate should also be capable of accomplishing company goals by accepting ownership for varying requests and exploring new opportunities to add value to the enterprise Manage the activities, initiatives and results of assigned MS SQL DBA duties • Optimize the performance of day-to-day operations, focusing on issue resolution & delivery • Ovesees database maintenance and tuning, including the development and maintenance of accurate documentation and process procedures • Supports capacity planning function to ensure infrastructure supports growth • Supports implementation, upgrades and roll outs • Oversees the development of SQL for tools, utilities, ad-hoc reporting and data QA • Oversee high availability and disaster recovery technologies and processes • Oversees database configuration management, schema, stored procedures, triggers, etc. • Develops implementation, migration and recovery processes with Operational documentation. • Maintain a supportive and collaborative relationship with application development, Architecture, operations and infrastructure organizations. • Act as a focal point for various IT groups on integrated system solution design. • Participate in application database design meetings and recommend database solutions. • Conduct internal database design reviews to ensure standards and best practices are followed. • Act as SOX Control Owner to manage and monitor Access and Activity controls for the responsible databases. • Participate in SOX reviews and remediate deficiency uncovered during the review. • Manage PCI other IT Compliance database layer controls. • Additional duties as assigned by manager. |
| Requirements | 5 plus years lead experience with database systems and teams. • 10 years experience managing enterprise MS SQL Server database systems. • Experience in managing production 24x7 revenue impacting database systems and applications. • Comfortable in a fast paced agile environment. • Experience in production change control processes. • Experience in managing configuration and creation of databases for optimal performance. • Experience in setting up and using administration tools for performance tuning/optimization, application schema design. • Experience in replication, log shipping and/or database mirroring. • Ability to Perform Database Audits. • Prior experience in installations/upgrades/patching of Microsoft SQL Server databases. • Experience developing backup and recovery processes, procedures and scripts. Experience in Clustering and Virtualization. • Experience performing database backups with Red Gate and Netbackup. • Broad knowledge of enterprise technologies and interoperability. • Team player with ability to multitask with minimal supervision and high reliability Strong interpersonal skills and technical presentation skills. • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. • Passion for learning and applying evolving technologies. • Strong customer focus; ability to focus on the client's requirements and exceed expectations. • Oracle / Sybase / My SQL experience a plus. |
